Time to Run!

With all of the new year resolution-ers at the gym after work, I thought I would wake up early to get my run in before work! But wow, was it ever hard to wake up early this morning!

I love that so many people in my area have decided to take the first steps towards getting healthier, but I just wish that there were more machines than people at my mega-gym. Even with about 40 treadmills, each one will be filled between the hours of 5:30pm and 7:00pm.

I obviously need some help waking up in the morning – what are your suggestions?

Do you ever have a hard time getting up to work out in the a.m.? What helps motivate you to get your run in early?

But alas, it’s now back to the grindstone at work. I am still thinking about meaningful resolutions and I am currently reading up on different ways to improve my running. Below are a selection of books I am currently looking at to figure out how to approach making my running resolutions. A full review of each book will be done eventually.

Running Resolutions

I was reading the Runner’s World article on Running Resolutions and it got me thinking: what am I going to do differently this year to reach my goals?

As some of you know, I got injured last fall and was out for the entire month of November. I had to miss two races and life kind of sucked. I was working towards getting faster, and had no way of telling if my hard work paid off. My hip wasn’t letting me do anything besides physical therapy moves… even sitting hurt ūüė¶

But this year I really want to make it happen, I want to improve my speed and endurance, but not overtrain like I did last season.

So while the means to the ends are not set in stone yet, I can promise you (and myself) that there will be more cross training, core work, and balance to my running regieme. This week I will be thinking a lot about how I plan on beating my half marathon PR in the spring and I’ll keep you posted!

Seattle Bound!

I am leaving for Seattle, WA today! I am so excited!! I cannot wait to run in the brisk air and take in all of the sites!

Unfortunately that means that my updates will be intermittent through the end of the year ūüė¶ ¬†I’ll try my best to update but may not be able to reach a computer until after the first of January.

Candy Cane Nails

Today’s nails are one of my favorite combos of tomato red and iridescent glitter! I’m wearing Color Mates in Romance and Wet n’ Wild in Hallucinate.

And don’t judge on the Color Mates… I bought it when I was in a bind: without polish at my boyfriend’s parent’s house for a week and my pedicure was flaking like no other (too brittle of a top coat). I literally took my morning jog to the drug store and this was the only polish they had. Turned out to be a great match!
